Mass Disaster Drill

I work for a hospital in Milwaukee that is a level 1 trauma center. This means that any mass disaster or trauma cases come to us.

On Wednesday a drill was done in collaboration with hospital staff, local emergency response agencies and federal/military personnel. The exercise was part of the United States Government Homeland Defense initiative and was the first in the country where civilians and military personnel trained together to prepare for a widespread mass casualty event requiring decontamination.

This was the largest full-scale exercise in the United States in 2009 and it was fun to watch!!

The green tents were where the decontamination was done.
The yellow suits are the haz-mat suits. Good thing it wasn't 90 degress outside!!

The large glass building in this picture is the Cancer Center at Froedtert where I work.

Single Motherhood

Phew, I can tell you that I'm not cut out for single motherhood with three kids. I love each one of my kids, but being the only one there 24/7 has been a lot.

I can't wait for a little break on Saturday...unfortunately Brian has to leave again on Sunday for all next week.

I don't know how single mothers, military wives and those with husbands that travel a lot do it.

I just hope he can get in...we are supposed to have severe storms again tonight.

OK, my pity party is done.

Love you Brian :)

What....

...are those kids eating....

Sour Cream and Spinach Pancakes....yes, you read that correctly. Spinach!! I follow a blog of a Mom with 4 small children and she had posted this recipe. Check out the link above for the recipe.

Julia at 4 pancakes (she has always been our best eater), Sarah Grace had 2 and Caroline finished 1 after some prompting and lots of syrup. I had 2 and they were really good and you don't taste the spinach that much.

We are doing a CSA this year and so the spinach was from the bag we picked up this afternoon.

Father's Day Present

I decided to take advantage of Brian being gone to have the kids make a Father's Day present for him.

We aren't talking about what we did with the paints....

And all the evidence has been cleaned up!

Wirth Park

On Sunday afternoon we took all the girls to Wirth Park. This is a swimming pool in Brookfield and as residents we are able to get a season pass. We have done this the past few years. It works great because you never feel bad about only going for an hour.
It has a zero depth pool and brrrr....it was cold!!

I didn't bother Sarah Grace too much :)

But she was much happier when Daddy picked her up!!! (She has become quite the Daddy girl lately.)

Julia went down the big water slide for the first time! She wouldn't do it last year but after going on the one in Marshfield she was ready to try the one at Wirth Park.

Daddy and his three girls!!

Phew....they're all done!

The last week was crazy with the girls finishing up the school year. Programs, picnics, teacher gifts, field day....the list goes on and on. I can't believe it has been a week since I updated our blog!!

Both girls are happy the school year is done and ready to relax for awhile. Not too long because we've got them in lots of different activities this summer!

My plan was to bring the camera out to the bus to try and get a picture of them getting off the bus for the last time but I forgot...darn. Next year. They have grown so much in the past year.

Last year on the last day of school we took them to Stonefire Pizza. They had a blast and we decided to take them again this year. Sarah Grace joined in this time :). There is an eating area (where you watch a movie) and then a game room. Think a nice Chuck E Cheese.

Both Brian and I are SO proud of them. Great job Caroline!! Great job Julia!!

No, No, No!

Sarah Grace has figured out how to shake her head and will do it for no reason at all. It is so cute, but I'm sure the attitude will come with it later!!

Caroline's First Grade Program

Caroline had her first grade program on Wednesday. The theme was bugs and it was very cute!! I find it hard to believe that she is going to be in second grade soon. She seems to like all the different subjects so far and doesn't have a favorite. Overall she loves school and doesn't even mind the homework.

By the way, she is a butterfly if you can't tell from the "mask" she has on her head. :)

And of course I have to do a video of the program. It was called "I Can Read". I thought it was such a cute song and so true.
